How long have you been at the University of Arkansas in Student Affairs? What have you enjoyed most about your time here?
I recently celebrated one year in Student Affairs, and I’ve sincerely enjoyed working alongside some excellent people. I was welcomed from the moment I joined the department, and it made the transition into Student Affairs seamless.
Tell us a little about your role in Student Affairs. What brings you joy in this role?
What brings me the most joy is directly helping students in their academic journey. Whether it’s working with prospective students that are just starting the admission process or assisting current students overcome various obstacles, it feels great knowing that my work can have a positive influence on students’ academic careers.
What is the greatest misconception people have about Student Affairs and how do you break that?
Some students believe that we measure success by how much money we generate (in some form or fashion) for the university. However, our objective is always to help students succeed academically and professionally. We try to help students make informed decisions about their future and provide support services to help them reach their goals.
What do you like to do with your time outside of the University?
I’ve enjoyed hiking and exploring the natural wonders in Northwest Arkansas.
What do you hope students and colleagues will remember about your interactions?
That we’re truly here to help. I work with many first-year students, and I hope they feel comfortable enough to come back in the future if they need assistance.
