College can be overwhelming, especially in the first few days after moving in. Students can get homesick, missing their friends and family, and not sure how to find their way. A-Week is designed to help incoming first year students as they transition from high school to college, from move-in to the first day of classes.
New Student & Family Programs creates many of the A-Week activities and coordinates others with departments and programs across campus to host a week of fun and informative experiences for students.
“We had more than 16,000 touchpoints with new students during A-Week activities,” said Quincy Spencer, director of New Student & Family Programs. “This is the largest number of students we have engaged during A-Week since it began. These students were more than ready to start their college experience.”
Students took part in a New Student Welcome and Cookout, college open houses, Trivia nights, UREC Open House, service projects, Cardinal Nights, The Freshman Pep Rally and so much more.
