The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas

The Division of Student Affairs recognizes and celebrates the 28 Graduate Assistants who are graduating in May 2020.

“We wouldn’t be able to accomplish our focus on developing students’ strengths and inspiring student leadership without the assistance of our graduate assistants,” said Lori Lander, assistant vice chancellor for Campus Life and associate dean of students. “They contribute in unmeasurable ways and are a huge part of the Student Affairs team.”

There are 28 graduating GAs this May, and they come from more than 10 academic disciplines on campus. They have worked in all areas and departments of Student Affairs. From working with Associated Student Government, to advising students in the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, to working with Club Sports in University Recreation, they contribute vastly to the student experience at the University of Arkansas.

In years past the Division has honored graduates with a reception at the Fowler Conservatory where their supervisors would say many words of thanks and then present them with a graduation medallion. Because the COVID-19 pandemic prevented that from happening this year, the Division created a video with photos and information about those GAs in appreciation and celebration.

“Although we are limited in our ability to say thank you and congratulations in traditional ways, we still want to recognize their dedication to the division and their achievement in earning their advanced degree,” Lander said. “And if they are able to return in December for the graduation 2020 campus ceremony, we will acknowledge their success again.”
