The Student Affairs Bulletin

The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas

We are well into the first semester and students just had their fall break. This time gives everyone a chance to take a breath and get themselves ready to take on the rest of the semester.

We opened Adohi Hall, a new Residence Hall this Fall. Adohi, which is Cherokee for “woods,” is the first new residence hall to open on campus since Founder’s Hall in 2013. Adohi is located on the southern end of campus near the Trail of Tears Marker. Students moved in this Fall and we dedicated the building this month. Our story highlights that dedication and takes you into the amazing space, showing off some of its features.

Also in this edition of the Student Affairs Bulletin, we take a look at the Relaxation Room in the Pat Walker Health Center and find out what it offers students looking for respite from the rigors of the day. This room was made possible by a generous gift from parents of a former student, Lane Marrs, who died by suicide three years ago.

Our executive director of communications, Scott Flanagin, and his UA Productions team, worked with the University of Arkansas Police Department to create the campus Crosswalk Safety video, which is being shared with every first-year student through Destination Arkansas Blackboard Activities. We have the video for you to watch as well.

Our staff and student Q&As in this issue are from our New Student & Family Programs area, with Director Quincy Spencer and one of his stellar undergraduate student employees, Callie Malone.

We hope you enjoy this second edition of the Student Affairs Bulletin.
