Euphoria is defined as a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness. On April 30th, 2022, University of Arkansas students filed into Bud Walton Arena to experience just that. The annual music festival returned in person for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic with headlining artist Dominic Fike, who is best known for his musical contribution to the recent television series Euphoria.
The Springtime of Youth is a musical event curated by the University’s student led, Headliner Concerts Committee and has, in the past, taken place at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The festival is free for students but allows a limited number of tickets to be sold to the general public. This was the first time ever the show was held in Bud Walton Arena. Initially, a result of impending bad weather, the new location created a much more intimate vibe allowing students on the floor to be front and center for the evenings performances.
The local ‘Battle of the Bands’ winner, Ouachita Dune, began the festivities as students poured in. To follow, the brother-sister duo, Between Friends, played their second ever live performance and electronic artist, San Holo played a heavy bass music set that shook the entire arena. Hip-Hop artist Princess Nokia was next and entertained the crowd with dancers, a DJ, and lyrics with powerful and moving messages. To close the show, Dominic Fike gave the performance of the night, giving his fans exactly what they wanted. After each performance, every artist, including Fike was kind enough to find their way to the Committee memerb s backstage and spend some time with the students who brought them here. For many, the Springtime of Youth Festival is the event of the year, and it was great to be back in person, so be sure to stay tuned for the 2023 event.
