Tell us something about your academic passions and how those relate to your role in Student Affairs program or department?

My academic passions center around understanding the human experience, advocating for social justice, and providing support to individuals in need. This relates to my role in the Student Affairs department because I do a variety of work at the Sexual and Relationship Violence Center. I teach classes across campus that focuses on dismantling rape culture and educating students on risk reduction and the facts about sexual assault. I also work with students at the SRVC who need advocacy, and I facilitate the weekly support group for victims and survivors of SA. I strive to provide a safe space and support to students who are in times of need.

What has been your greatest experience outside of the classroom?

My greatest experience outside of the classroom is my time I spent in Ireland last summer on a study abroad where I learned about memory care services, homelessness prevention and intervention, and how to best serve individuals with intellectual and learning disabilities. It was such a rewarding experience where I was able to get hands on experience within a different cultural context!

What advice would you give new students about getting involved on campus?

Just talk to people, put yourself out there, and form connections. Do not be afraid to start a group chat with classmates or other students to strengthen those connections! Explore different student groups, clubs, and organizations that align with your own values and interests, because in those spaces you will find people that share similar passions and goals.

What do you like to do with your time outside of the university?

In my leisure time, I enjoy being outside, playing with my cats, hanging out with family, and playing osrs J

When do you plan to graduate and what is coming next for you?

I graduate summer 2024 after I complete my final 3 credits on the New Zealand Adventure Therapy study abroad trip! As far as what comes next, hopefully a good job that will support my professional goals and provide me opportunities to help those in need or in time of crisis. I also plan on getting my licensure this year so I can practice as a LMSW.

Is there anything else you would like to add or let our readers know?

Always be yourself!
