Tell us something about your academic passions and how those relate to your role in Student Affairs program or department?

My academic passions are aimed at wanting to be extremely well-rounded when I graduate and enter the career world as well as being a great student. The two things I am extremely grateful to be a part of are my sorority—Chi Omega, and the student-run business, ForeverRed SAKE. Within both organizations I have been able to find opportunities that I am interested in. Rather than being lost and clueless about my future they have prepared me for challenges to come and what I will be facing in the business world.

What has been your greatest experience outside of the classroom?

My greatest experience outside of the classroom has been my on-campus job at UREC as the social media manager! When I first applied for this job, I thought it would be just a learning experience and something to open doors for me in the future as an ADPR student who needed to add to their resume. Little did I know, I would love the environment I work in as well as the people that I work with. UREC has offered me so many opportunities besides the one job I have such as further campus involvement, and friends I would not have met if not for this job.

What advice would you give new students about getting involved on campus?

When your professors suggest joining a club or a student organization that relates to your major or just something you are interested in, sign up! I think the one thing students struggle with is that they say they will do something and end up not doing it. You need to have drive in order to make anything happen, but in order to get involved on campus as a new student, you must be willing to go the extra mile and put yourself out there. As a freshman during COVID, I struggled with this myself, but as I got into my sophomore year, I was more confident within myself and branched out into many things, creating friendships in places I never thought I would. Now as a senior, I still seek out new opportunities and chances to be involved in something I could enjoy that I won’t get to experience outside of college!

What do you like to do with your time outside of the university?

I love being active, whether that is a walk in the park or hitting the gym, I always want to have some physical activity in my daily life. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and doing fun things around Fayetteville. In this town, there are new things happening every day and I want to experience it all before I graduate!

When do you plan to graduate and what is coming next for you?

I plan to graduate in Winter ‘24 as a 5th year student. I plan on moving to a big city such as Kansas City or Dallas and having a job in public relations with a company or brand that I am passionate about and content to work with.

Is there anything else you would like to add or let our readers know?

Incoming freshman, while you are nervous to try new things, do it! You have no clue what opportunity lies behind each closed door. Not trying will be one of your biggest regrets in your college career.
