Tell us something about your academic passions and how those relate to your role in Student Affairs program or department?

I am pursuing my Bachelors of Arts in Teaching. This degree will allow me to pursue my passion for teaching and education, I’ve always wanted to serve in the classroom since I was a child, and this will allow me to inspire, teach, and develop the next generation, while building professional relationships to enhance the education system and break down barriers for those that are underrepresented, as it relates to diversity and inclusion.

What has been your greatest experience outside of the classroom?

My greatest experience outside of the classroom has been becoming a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., by way of the Kappa Kappa Chapter here at the University of Arkansas (Fall 20 initiate). Becoming an Alpha man has been one of my proudest accomplishments, as it has allowed me to continuously develop as a leader, network, serve, and grow both academically, professionally, and personally. I currently serve as the Chapter President. Alpha Phi Alpha is the first intercollegiate greek-lettered organization for black men.

What advice would you give new students about getting involved on campus?

It is extremely important to get involved on campus outside of the classroom, because it enhances your experience as a college student. While academics is of top priority, it’s also necessary to pursue your interests, passions, and hobbies into various RSOs, clubs, or organizations on campus. This allows you to have a healthy balance between academics and leisure, which is necessary for your mental health and personal well-being. Additionally, this allows you to expand your connections, build meaningful relationships, and create long lasting memories.

What do you like to do with your time outside of the university?

I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and singing. Each of these things brings me peace, happiness, and joy!

When do you plan to graduate and what is coming next for you?

I anticipate to graduate in the Spring of 2024. Upon graduating, I will pursue my Masters degree in Higher Education or Educational Administration.
