Tell us something about your academic passions and how those relate to your role in Student Affairs program or department?
I am what most people consider to be a man of the Earth. I found a beautiful balance between my scientific base and my love for rocks and came into the geophysics specialization here at the University of Arkansas. I plan to take my skills in academics and further them, doing research within the realm of renewable energy to allow for us to have a sustainable future for not just ourselves but our students as well! My specific focus is geothermal energy and looking to optimize the processes behind it!
What has been your greatest experience outside of the classroom?
Outside of the classroom, I have had a lot of great experiences, but I would have to say that the best one as of right now is a tie between representing the school and my chapter at my fraternity’s Conclave in 2019 as one of the seven national oratorical speakers and making the 2020 University of Arkansas Homecoming Court.
What advice would you give new students about getting involved on campus?
Take that leap of faith when getting involved on campus. Do not sit back and wait for opportunities to come your way, make them on your own. In addition, make connections! Get involved in research with professors, leadership roles within RSOs, and also make focus groups with your friends to look at issues that impact your school community.
What do you like to do with your time outside of the university?
My time outside the University is actually filled with checking in on my family at home, playing soccer at an indoor recreational league, and thinking of ways to better myself during both leisure and business time. Books especially are a plus during this time. However, when I’m not doing all that I am an avid music fan.
When do you plan to graduate and what is coming next for you?
I do intend to graduate this Spring and my next steps include heading towards Graduate School. It is my goal to get into either Geophysics or Energy Systems Engineering as I have a passion towards working in the renewable energy sector and making a great impact in the field of geothermal energy production and generation.
Is there anything else you would like to add or let our readers know?
Never stop working towards your dreams, there may be times when it gets hard, but always remember to make yourself proud in everything that you do and you will always succeed.
