Tell us something about your academic passions and how those relate to your role in Student Affairs program or department.

I developed my passion for media and advertising at an early age. I have always been interested in technology and learning about the newest and greatest thing. In my undergraduate, I chose a major in Journalism with a concentration in Advertising/Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. I landed an internship with Student Affairs in January of 2019 as a Content Writer. Following my internship, I was hired part-time in the same role. After completion of my degree in December of 2020, I decided it was best to stick around for a master’s degree instead of trying to job hunt during the pandemic. I am now the Social Media and Marketing Graduate Assistant for the Division of Student Affairs and have loved every moment of my journey so far. I get firsthand experience of interviewing, campaign planning, taking pictures, and many other things. My opportunities with my job enhance my education and allow me to get industry experience while still being in school.

What has been your greatest experience outside of the classroom?

My greatest experience outside the classroom has been my involvement with UARK Gaming and Esports. I played briefly for the main League of Legends team and was the vice president of UARK Gaming. I’ve met so many friends through gaming at the collegiate level and casually. This year, I am the president of both Gaming and Esports. Providing an environment for casual and competitive gamers to grow and connect with other students has been a huge learning experience for me.

What advice would you give new students about getting involved on campus?

Get involved as early as possible. There is definitely a club on campus for you. Check HogSync, flyers, ask your classmates, and even professors for club recommendations. You never know what you might come across and enjoy.

What do you like to do with your time outside of the university?

I play a lot of video games and love to hang out with my boyfriend Jesse, our roommate Sam, and our two cats, Marnie and Phoenix. When I’m not gaming, I am hammocking, hiking, or thrifting.

When do you plan to graduate and what is coming next for you?

I plan on graduating in December of 2022. Following graduation, I hope to land a job on a social media team for a gaming company such as Ubisoft, Nintendo, or Riot Games. I want to encourage young girls to get involved with gaming and technology by letting them know there is a place for them within the gaming community.

Is there anything else you would like to add or let our readers know?

Get involved, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and enjoy yourself! College is a time to meet people and experience new things.
