Student Media

College Media Madness is an annual fundraising competition for student newsrooms. This is the second year Student Media at the University of Arkansas has participated.  There are 33 college news outlets from across the country competing to see which newsroom can raise the most money from March 12 through April 3!

Robyn Starling-Ledbetter, Director of Student Media, created the scholarship fund in 2021 and since then, has raised over $30,000 for student media scholarships.

“Being a part of the College Media Madness Campaign is a neat platform to share in a friendly competition for a great cause,” Starling-Ledbetter said. “In 2022, we raised more than $15,000 for student media scholarships.  We hope to reach that goal again this year.”

To donate, click on your favorite newsroom at http://collegemediamadness.com/ and give a gift — every dollar counts! Together, we can provide financial support to our student media managers who dedicate so much of their time to sharing important stories with our campus community.  We hope to award scholarships to our deserving student managers — the Arkansas Traveler Editor, UATV Station Manager, Hill Magazine Editor, Main Hill Media Agency Manager, Razorback Yearbook Editor, Director of Strategic Media and Collaboration, and KXUA Station Manager.

“You can support these outstanding students by donating today,” Starling-Ledbetter said. “A gift of any size will help us reach our goal by April 3 – and, more importantly, make a difference in the lives of our students.  You can also help us spread the word by sharing our project page on social media.”

This project was organized by The Daily Orange, the independent student news organization serving Syracuse University, and is run by The State Press, the independent student news organization serving Arizona State University.

Student Media will continue to raise money for this scholarship fund beyond the College Media Madness competition. If you would like to support Student Media scholarships and help the reach their $15,000 goal just click and donate on the FundRazor platform.
