The Division of Student Affairs is now accepting scholarship applications. Each year, Student Affairs awards dozens of scholarships to University of Arkansas students for many different reasons. While these scholarships do require good academic standing, many of them also recognize leadership, student involvement and community service experiences at the Uof A.

“We encourage all U of A students to apply for these scholarships, regardless of their course of study or their year in school,” said Melissa Harwood-Rom, interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs and dean of students. “Students should also look for scholarships within their college and outside of the university.”

For the 2021-2022 academic year the Division of Student Affairs awarded 170 Non-Greek scholarships for a total of $187,000, and 68 Greek scholarships for a total of $79,050. The amount and number of recipients selected to receive each scholarship are based on the applicant pool each year and other factors.

“Your gift to Student Affairs means you are making a positive impact on another person’s life. The generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff and friends supports students to ensure they have every available resource to succeed on and off campus,” said Ben Carter, senior director of development for Student Affairs. “Not only do these funds help students who have the greatest needs, but they positively impact the lives of those donors who choose to support and create these scholarships to help those students.”

Most of the current open scholarship applications close on February 18. Students who apply for a Student Affairs scholarships now will be notified of their award status at the end of Spring 2022 semester. All current scholarships will be awarded for Fall 2022, with a couple exceptions as noted on the scholarship applications.

“If you are a student, I encourage you to apply now, and if you’re a friend of the University, I encourage you to support these students through a donation to one of our many scholarships,” Carter said.
